H2A exists to help organizations examine these challenges at the intersection of technology, governance, organizational behavior, and human decision making. Through independent analysis, research synthesis, and executive advisory services, we help leaders understand how complex socio-technical systems function in practice and navigate the consequences that emerge when humans and AI shape outcomes together.
H2A was founded by Dr. Rittika Shamsuddin, a computer scientist, educator, and AI researcher whose work focuses on explainability, human-centered AI, and the interaction between technical systems and organizational decision making.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Shamsuddin has worked across machine learning, healthcare informatics, responsible AI, education, and public policy, collaborating with researchers and practitioners from disciplines including medicine, psychology, political science, and governance. This interdisciplinary perspective has shaped her approach to understanding how technology operates within complex human and organizational environments.
Her research explores how humans, institutions, and AI systems work together in high-stakes environments, and how explanation, accountability, and trust emerge from those interactions.
As former Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on multiple federally funded research initiatives, she has led interdisciplinary programs spanning artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, and responsible technology development. Her work has brought together researchers, educators, policy stakeholders, and practitioners to address challenges that extend beyond any single discipline.
This question has guided both her academic work and the development of H2A. Through interdisciplinary collaborations and the development of System-of-Systems Machine Learning (SoS-ML), she has explored how explanation, human judgment, and organizational structures interact within complex socio-technical systems.
H2A represents an extension of that work, bringing system-level analysis and interdisciplinary inquiry beyond academia and into organizational practice.
